CuratorBits ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect when you visit curatorbits.com, how we use it, and the rights you have over your data under applicable law including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's privacy guidance.

1. What we collect

Information you provide voluntarily

When you email us or fill out a contact form, you may give us your name, email address, and any message content. We use this only to respond to you.

Newsletter. Our signup form sends the email address you enter to Kit (formerly ConvertKit), which hosts our mailing list and acts as our processor for it. Kit uses double opt-in: it emails you a confirmation link and only adds you once you click it. You can unsubscribe from any email we send, which removes you from the list.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our hosting provider (Cloudflare Pages) records standard server logs for security and performance monitoring. These include your IP address (truncated where required by law), browser type, referring page, and request timestamp. We do not link these logs to identifying information.

Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-XL5Y234KLJ) to understand which pages people find useful. Where the law requires consent for a non-essential cookie, we do not write one. In the EEA, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Türkiye, analytics and advertising storage are denied by default before the tag loads, so no analytics cookie is set for readers there and Google receives only a cookieless ping. Everywhere else, Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (_ga and _ga_*) and processes your IP address, device and browser information, and the pages you visit. Google acts as our processor for this data; its handling is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

We also record an affiliate_click event when an affiliate link is clicked, capturing the destination domain, the link URL and the page path — not anything that identifies you personally.

You can opt out at any time using Google's Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by blocking cookies for this site in your browser.

Our host also runs Cloudflare Web Analytics (beacon.min.js, injected by Cloudflare Pages rather than by our own markup). It is cookieless and does not track visitors across sites. It records a beacon on each page view — page path, referrer, device type, browser, and page-load timing — which Cloudflare keeps unsampled for seven days and then reduces to aggregates, reportable for about six months.

Affiliate tracking

When you click an affiliate link on CuratorBits, the destination affiliate network (such as impact.com, Awin, PartnerStack, or a direct brand program) may set tracking cookies on their domain to attribute any purchase you make to us. We do not control these third-party cookies — they are governed by the relevant network's privacy policy. You can opt out by not clicking affiliate links or by clearing your browser cookies before purchase.

  • To respond to messages you send us
  • To send newsletters or updates only if you explicitly subscribe
  • To monitor site security and performance
  • To understand which reviews readers find useful (aggregate analytics)
  • To comply with applicable laws and respond to lawful requests

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers for targeted advertising. We do not build user profiles for resale.

3. Cookies

Outside the regions listed in the Analytics section above, CuratorBits sets first-party analytics cookies through Google Analytics 4 (_ga, _ga_*). Inside those regions no analytics cookie is written at all, because storage is denied by default — which is why you will not see a cookie banner here: there is nothing to consent to. These are used to measure site usage; they are not used for advertising and we do not sell or share the data. Strictly necessary cookies may also be used for site functionality (e.g. remembering accessibility preferences).

You can refuse or remove these cookies at any time through your browser settings, or via Google's Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. Doing so does not affect your ability to read the site.

As noted above, affiliate destination sites set their own cookies after you click an affiliate link. Those are governed by the destination's policy, not ours.

4. Third parties

We use the following third-party services to operate the site:

  • Cloudflare Pages — site hosting and CDN, and Cloudflare Web Analytics (cookieless; per-page-view beacon, unsampled for seven days then aggregated)
  • Google Fonts — typography (Space Grotesk). Google's font CDN logs IP addresses; you can read Google's privacy policy here.
  • Google Analytics 4 — site usage measurement. Sets first-party cookies and processes IP address, device and browsing data. See the Analytics section above.
  • Kit (formerly ConvertKit) — newsletter list hosting and delivery, if you subscribe. Receives the email address you submit.
  • Email providers for messages you send us
  • Affiliate networks only when you click an affiliate link (impact.com, Awin, PartnerStack, etc.)

5. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:

  • Access the information we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Delete your data (subject to retention obligations)
  • Restrict or object to processing
  • Withdraw consent for any consent-based processing
  • Data portability in machine-readable format
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

6. Data retention

Email correspondence is retained for as long as the conversation is active plus a reasonable archive period (typically 24 months). Server logs are retained for security purposes per Cloudflare's standard retention. Google Analytics data is retained according to the property's configured retention window and is reported in aggregate. Newsletter subscriptions are retained by Kit until you unsubscribe.

7. Children

CuratorBits is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact [email protected] and we will delete it.

8. International transfers

Our hosting and analytics providers may process data outside your country. Where required, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses, adequacy decisions, or your explicit consent.

9. Changes to this policy

We update this policy when our practices change. Updates are posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes that affect your rights will be communicated prominently.
